I drank too much, smoked too many cigarettes, and did not get nearly enough sleep this weekend.  It was fun though.

A buddy of mine recommended Lock and Key to me, although I think I have the wrong Lock and Key.  Apparently you can have multiple bands under the same name.  This is not at all the band I expected considering my friend’s penchant for metal and hardcore.

This band reminds me a lot of Planes Mistaken for Stars.  Both bands feel screamo instrumentally, but have a singer who’s too gravely and haggard sounding to really convince me this has anything to do with the scene.  It’s like a small town band where you have two emo kids, a punk, and a metal-head all living in the same small town and can’t fill out a band in their preferred genres without outsourcing the gig to someone from a different tribe.

I think it mostly works in Pull Up the Floorboards.  This isn’t a revolutionary album and certainly won’t be a thing I go back to on the regular, but I can’t say I was disappointed by Lock and Key either.

But like I said I’m more thrashed than the crowd at a Lock and Key show, so I’m going to root for Cloud 9 to get to League of Legends Mid Season Invitational.  (>o_o)> C9 take my energy!!! (>o_o)>
